Game context
The optional Self-Found character mode adds restrictions on exchanging resources. Turning it off does not mean it can simply be enabled again for the same character; access rules must be read in their own context.
Character development
Hardcore is not a new expansion, and Self-Found is not a new class tree. A calculator can describe class development without pretending that it simulates survival or all service restrictions.
