Plunderstorm brought a pirate survival battle to Azeroth

A look back at the original March 2024 event: 60 players, scavenged abilities and a storm closing in on Arathi Highlands.
Blizzard introduced Plunderstorm on March 19, 2024 as a limited-time event set in Arathi Highlands. Players entered a separate match and collected abilities and upgrades while a storm gradually reduced the battlefield.
A different kind of WoW match
Each match supported 60 players and was designed to last roughly 10–15 minutes. Fighting enemies and opening chests helped a character grow during that match. Winning was not required to advance through the reward track, which included pirate appearances, pets and mounts.
This retrospective covers the original 2024 release. Later returns of Plunderstorm had their own rules and rewards; the original reward track is not a promise of current availability.
